Q: What is there for children to do at your resort and surrounding area?
A: Mother Nature provides most of the entertainment at our resort and surrounding area. We offer a small private beach with picnic tables, and fire pit. We recommend wearing water shoes due to the rocky approach into the lake. Fishing gear and license are available nearby. Sailboat rentals are available at Lighthouse Landing, while other boats such as kayaks, fishing boats, ski boats and pontoon boats are available to rent at nearby facilities. The clean, warm water of Kentucky Lake is a great place to teach children how to swim, sail, ski or fish. Take the kids horseback riding at Happy Trails Riding Stables or Pete’s Stables or play miniature golf at Maggie’s Jungle. The Land Between the Lakes has biking/hiking trails where you can see and enjoy an abundance of wildlife. Bikes are available to rent nearby. Take a drive through the Elk & Bison Prairie, walk through the Nature Center, canoe on Honker Lake, hike around Hematite Lake, stargaze at the LBL Planetarium, or visit the Homeplace, where life is re-created on a mid-19th century Southern farm. For a calendar of events call the LBL at 270/924-2000 or visit them on the Internet at www.lbl.org.

Q: Can we bring our pets?
A: Sorry, but we have a No Pets Policy. Kennels are located nearby.

Q: We have a cottage reserved at Lighthouse Landing and would like to bring our boat with us. Do you have slips available?
A: Many of our resort customers bring their own boats (power and sail welcome). We have a limited amount of transient slips available, but we can almost always find you a slip. We do not take advance reservations for slips; just let us know at the time you are making the reservation for a cottage. The nightly charge is $.75 per foot. The weekly charge is $3.75 per foot.

Q: Are there restaurants and shopping nearby?
A: Absolutely! We may be secluded and you might have the lake all to yourself but when it comes to eating, some of the finest restaurants in Western Kentucky are within walking distance from us. Check out the “2” pork chop” @ Patti’s 1880’s, ask Irene to fix you a “Turkey Gobbler” sandwich at The Liteside Café or get some real country cooking at The Iron Kettle then go next door for an ice cream cone at the Dairy Dream all located within 4 blocks from us. For a great sandwich, salad or BBQ try Mr. BBQ located about ˝ of a mile from us on Hwy 453. Knoth’s BBQ, Scarlet’s and the Pelican are located within an easy 4-mile drive of us. For a great cheeseburger and the latest movies visit the Calvert Drive-In Theatre, one of the few remaining drive-in theatres, open since 1953. If you plan to cook your own meals, DeWeese IGA is located in Grand Rivers and offers a good selection of meats and produce. Ask Jeff to cut you some, melt in your mouth, filets. We also have antique, clothing and gift stores located in and around Grand Rivers.

Q: Can you buy alcohol in Grand Rivers?
A: Grand Rivers and the surrounding lakes area are located in dry counties. The nearest place to get a drink in a restaurant is Kuttawa, 10 miles east on I-24. The nearest place to buy alcohol, in package stores, bars and restaurants, is Paducah, which is about 25 miles west on I-24.

Q: Do you take personal checks for cottage payment?
A: We take checks for the deposit if we can get it at least 2 weeks prior to your arrival.

Upon arrival, we take only cash or credit/debit cards (Master Card, Visa, Discover). If you are paying with cash , we require a valid credit card on file for the damage deposit.

Q: Can we rent a cottage for 1 night only?
A: All advance reservations must be for at least 2 nights or longer (3 nights on a holiday). Walk-ins are welcome for one night stay. Our hours are from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm.
