There is something simply magical about a sunset over Kentucky Lake. With beautiful colors of reds, oranges, and yellows cast across the sky and the glass-like waters of Kentucky Lake set against the foreground, you can’t get more picturesque than this. While you can enjoy the sunset from almost any vantage point, here are our favorite places to watch the sunset at Land Between the Lakes.
Kentucky Lake Drive
Venture out and enjoy one of the many scenic drives the Land Between the Lakes recreation area has to offer. The Kentucky Lake Drive is a three-mile route found along the Woodland Trace route. The drive provides scenic views of the lake, plus a variety of picnic spots to pull over and enjoy a picnic meal while you watch the sunset. There are also several hiking and biking trails in the area if you wanted to make a day of it.
Grand Rivers Walking trail and beach
Adjacent to Lighthouse Landing, the Grand Rivers Jetty is a two-mile walking trail that extends onto Kentucky Lake. At the end of the jetty, there is a beautiful gazebo with benches, the perfect spot to sit back and enjoy the sunset. Named as one of the top 50 romantic spots in the country by Cosmopolitan Magazine in 2006, it’s easy to see why this is one of our favorite places to watch the sunset at Land Between the Lakes. The walking trail can be accessed walking from your cottage or driving to the parking area located near the jetty.
Boswell Landing
Located on the Tennessee side of Kentucky Lake, Boswell Landing offers great views of Kentucky Lake, especially during sunset. This is also a great spot for viewing bald eagles. From the South welcome station, take road 230 west towards the lake.
Redd Hollow Campground
A lot of the places to watch the sunset at Land Between the Lakes are found driving the Woodland Trace National Scenic Byway. The Redd Hollow backcountry area is one that is worth a stop.
