Lighthouse Landing Resort & Marina is certified as a Tennessee Valley Camp-Right Campground, and one of the RV Parks near Kentucky Lake. Sponsored by the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA), the initiative promotes environmentally responsible campground management and camping practices on TVA land. The Camp-Right program focuses on improving conditions associated with:
- Resource conservation and management
- Campground siting, design, and maintenance
- Waste management
- Public education
“Every aspect of this program is important to us,” said Kurt Sutterer of Lighthouse Landing. “Most campers enjoy and appreciate nature and want to do their best to protect it. This program lets them know that we share those values.”
Campgrounds in this program are recognized as being leaders in protecting the environment in the Tennessee Valley, according to Vicki Jo Stevens-Valentine, Program Director “As the number of RV campers continues to grow, we are proud that Lighthouse Landing has worked to meet the eco-friendly criteria for Camp-Right Campground designation,” she said. This certification signifies that Lighthouse Landing is a sustainable campground that provides safe, high-quality camping experiences while conserving the natural resources of the Tennessee Valley.
Designed by TVA in 2019, the program is available to campgrounds in the Valley that agree to follow guidelines for environmentally friendly management and camping practices. More than 36 campgrounds have received Camp-Right certifications in recognition of their environmental stewardship, as well as their efforts to educate their guests. TVA encourages campers to look for the Tennessee Valley Camp-Right Campground designation when exploring campground options.
